Esack Brothers Industries Limited (Container Yard) Specializes in providing modern off-dock facilities with adequate logistic solution for smooth handling of export and import cargos and storage of empty containers.
The service sector of Inland Container Depots (ICDs) first came into being in the year of 1988 as an associate operational entity of Chittagong Port. From 1988 to 2000 only a few ICDs were set up and they used to store and handle only empty containers to/from Chittagong Port. In 2001 the ICDs started handling export goods of the country expanding their area of operation. Judging the bright prospect of the ICD sector, Esack Brothers Industries Limited (Container Yard) [EBILCY] was established in 2002 and commenced its operation in 2003. Within a span of three years EBILCY topped the ICD industry by handling the highest number of export and empty containers. At the beginning of 2007 only two ICDs were given permission to handle import loaded containers and EBILCY was one of them. Afterwards the import handling permission was made open for all the ICDs making all the ICDs full-fledged associate entities of Chittagong Port. At present after almost three decades the ICD sector has become an indispensable part of Chittagong Port handling almost 100% of exportable goods and 25% of imported goods and storing a collective volume of empty containers which is ten times the empty container volume of Chittagong Port. An export of USD 50 billion in the year 2021, the fiftieth anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence will only be possible through the ICD service industry. The growth of export and import of the country will lead to proportionate growth of the ICD sector. And EBILCY takes pride in being the ICD that has been handling the highest volume of export, import and empty containers annually for the last one decade. Though EBILCY is not the biggest ICD – even though it is one of biggest - its productivity and performance in terms of handling containers and export-import goods is higher than other ICDs including the ones with larger areas. As an ICD, EBILCY has been riding on a good business track. In a Business Performance Analysis done be globally reputed firm PwC in 2015, it has been showed that EBILCY is utilizing 86% of its capacity which is quite remarkable. Still in 2018 EBILCY handled the highest export loaded containers which exceeded our expectation. So since inception we have been running a very vibrant ICD procuring good container volumes and clinging to a healthy graph of performance and productivity
